How Auto Brokers Work (and Why They're Usually Cheaper)
A broker doesn't replace the dealer — the deal still happens through one. Here is what actually changes, and where the savings come from.

What an auto broker is
In New York, an auto broker is licensed by the DMV to arrange vehicle sales and leases between customers and dealers — without being tied to any single franchise. GT Auto Leasing operates under NYS DMV facility #7130974. The paperwork, title, and delivery still run through a licensed dealer; the broker's job is everything around it: finding the car, negotiating the numbers, and keeping the process honest.
Because we are not a single-brand store, there is no inventory we must move this month and no incentive to steer you toward one lot's leftovers. Our specials rotate across every make precisely because we can quote any of them.
How brokers get paid
Brokers are compensated from the deal itself — a portion of the arrangement the dealer would otherwise spend on selling to you directly. The customer price is typically the same or better than a well-negotiated dealership price, without the negotiation itself. There is no broker premium stacked on top of a normal deal.
Be wary of anyone who charges large upfront finder's fees before showing you numbers. A working broker's value shows up in the quote, not in the fee schedule.
Why the numbers usually come out lower
Dealers discount hardest when the sale is clean: a broker brings ready buyers, in volume, and knows exactly which franchise has the program money this month. Incentive programs, lease subvention, and inventory pressure all move weekly. A broker who watches those dials every day can land a payment that a one-time buyer negotiating in a showroom rarely matches.
Brokers also quote across brands. When one manufacturer's program is weak this month, we steer customers to the equivalent car with the strong program — something a single-brand dealer structurally cannot do.
What the process looks like with us
Pick a special or describe the car you want. We quote the payment, term, miles, and due-at-signing in writing. You apply online — personal or business, trade-ins and co-signers welcome — and once approved we go over the final numbers together before anything is signed. Most customers drive away within days.
That final walk-through is the part customers tell us they value most: every line explained, nothing added at the table. Call 516-218-2838 to start, or browse this week's specials.
